Best Luxury Hotel in Madrid: Thompson Madrid Review

We absolutely love Madrid's vibrant energy. The city is buzzing with energy, vibrant colors, and a rich history that draws us in. After our incredible road trip through Morocco, we took a short flight to Spain and stayed at the beautiful, memorable Thompson Madrid Hotel. The Thompson not only meets but surpasses expectations. From the moment we checked in to the last sip of our rooftop cocktails, we nearly felt like royalty. Here's what we loved most about our stay at the Thompson Madrid Hotel.

Checking into the Thompson Madrid

The staff at the Thompson Madrid Hotel are top-notch. They greeted us with warm smiles, complimentary in-house cinnamon rolls, and fresh juice! They made us feel like we were the only guests in the hotel.

Check-in was a breeze, and a staff member guided us to our room and told us about the hotel's amenities, including the rooftop bar, fitness center, and restaurant.

Room Tour of the Thompson Madrid

The Thompson Madrid has 175 rooms, including 22 suites and one stunning penthouse suite. We chose a standard King Room for our stay. Though it's technically the most basic room option at the hotel, our room still absolutely blew us away. The decor is modern and chic, with a touch of Spanish flair that reminds you you're truly in the heart of Madrid. The bed was comfortable, and the pillows were just the right amount of fluffy.

The bathroom was spacious and had all the amenities, including a rain shower, plush robes, slippers, and big, cozy towels. We were pleasantly surprised by the snacks and drinks in the room. The minibar and shelf were stocked with local specialties, Spanish wine, and go-to sodas.

We chose a room with an interior view, but if you score a room with a balcony, you'll have a front-row seat to the bustling streets below.

Food & Drinks at the Thompson Madrid

The food and drinks at the Thompson Madrid Hotel are exceptional and a great reflection of the city's style and flavors.

The hotel's restaurant, The Omar, is a must-visit spot for foodies. The carefully crafted cuisine with a Spanish twist is out of this world, with the seafood and lamb being standout dishes. And the wine list is extensive, so you're sure to find the perfect pairing for your meal.

Hijos de Tomás is the Thompson's cocktail bar with speakeasy flair. You can find it in the hotel basement, which leads to ultra-secluded, prohibition-era vibes.

The rooftop terrace is the perfect place to unwind after a long day of exploring the city. The views are breathtaking, and the cocktails are expertly crafted. We highly recommend trying their sangria - you are in Spain after all! Whether you're sipping cocktails with friends or lounging on a sun bed, the rooftop is the perfect place to soak up the Madrid sun. If you want to cool off, take a dip in the rooftop pool as the ultimate way to chill out on a hot day.

The Best Hotel Location in Madrid

The Thompson Madrid Hotel is located in the heart of Madrid's Calle Montera neighborhood. The area is known for its high-end boutiques, art galleries, and restaurants. It's the perfect location for those who want to experience the city's upscale side while staying close enough to walk to many of the city's top attractions.

Without a doubt! Our stay at the Thompson Madrid Hotel was unforgettable. The staff was friendly and attentive, the room was luxurious, and the food and drinks were exceptional. But what really sets this hotel apart is the incredible rooftop. It's the perfect place to take in Madrid's stunning views while leisurely enjoying the hotel, a cocktail, and good company.

We highly recommend staying at the Thompson Madrid Hotel if you're planning a trip to Madrid. From the exceptional staff to the luxurious amenities, this hotel has everything you need for a memorable stay in Madrid.
