Toronto is a massive metropolis well-worth visiting. It’s the fourth largest city in North America. It offers so much to do, from incredible museums, lakeside fun, and too many cool and cultural neighborhoods to list. (There are 158 in total!) We know that many of us don’t get enough time off work, and we must squeeze as many memorable moments into one trip as possible. While the one-weekend visit will have you longing for more, here’s your weekend itinerary for your quick getaway to Toronto.
Save some headaches and many hours of planning by stealing our itinerary. Here we go!
FRIDAY: FLY TO TORONTO
- Fly from your home airport
- Depending on your work schedule and location, you might be able to catch a flight after the work day. Otherwise, you might want to schedule time off to fly over.
- Arrive and check in to your stay
- Take the train from the airport to downtown Toronto and take a Lyft or Uber from there. The train is faster than sitting in never-ending traffic and is definitely cheaper.
- If you choose to take rideshare, expect the ride to cost between $38-60 CAD.
- Walk the Toronto Harbor to grab a bite to eat as you watch the people & boats go by

SATURDAY: MUSEUMS & ISLANDS
- Start with Brunch
- Recommendation: Old School. This place runs off nostalgia and comfort food. Take the morning slow and cozy up in a booth with blueberry pancakes, bacon, and a hot cup of coffee.
- Visit the Royal Ontario Museum
- Walk off the waffles or pancakes with a lap or two around the largest museum in Canada. Here you’ll find art, cultural artifacts, and natural history exhibits. We recommend skipping the ticket line and buying your tickets before going through the Tiqets app.
- Explore the Neighborhoods
- This sounds vague, but this part is a “choose your own adventure” situation. There are so many fascinating and culturally rich neighborhoods in Toronto that we can’t just recommend one or two! From Little Greece, Koreatown, Little Tibet, Portugal Village, and so many more, pick a neighborhood to experience. Walk the streets, and enjoy a specialized snack, lunch, or drink while you’re there. Check out Destination Toronto’s website for more info on each.
- Take a Ferry to Centre Island
- Catch the free public ferry! Water taxis run every 5-10 minutes, but if you can wait 30 minutes for the next ferry, hop on and enjoy the free ride!
- On Centre Island, walk around and enjoy the peaceful scenery with the most picturesque views of Downtown Toronto. If you happen to be traveling with younger kids, you might also want to check out the small amusement park on the island!
- Enjoy live performances or a nightcap before walking the cobblestone paths back to your hotel

SUNDAY: DOWNTOWN TORONTO // FLY HOME
- Quick brunch at Saint Lawrence Market
- The markets open at 10 a.m., so you can enjoy a few sips of coffee and bites of fresh baked goods as you wander through the markets and enjoy a little souvenir shopping.
- If time permits, go to the Hockey Hall of Fame
- No trip to Canada is complete without an ode to the national sport and a selfie with a Stanley Cup, right?
- Commute to the Toronto Airport, Check-in, and kiss Canada goodbye (for now!)
