“How do you always find such cheap flight deals all the time?” is our most commonly asked question. Whether you’re looking for a flight deal or needing to stretch your dollar to see as much of the world as possible, there are many great flight deals if you’re willing to chase deals more than plan for specific destinations. Here are our favorite ways to find discounted flights.

SUBSCRIBE TO FAREDROP
For the best updates on flight deals, we love the FareDrop App! Instead of daily alerts or a million emails about flights to places you aren’t interested in, you only get the push notifications of your choice. For example, you can choose to only receive alerts for flight deals to Europe if they go under $500, etc. Once they drop below your price limit, you’ll immediately get a notification. With FareDrop, you are never alerted for regions or continents you’re not looking for and only receive alerts about price drops that are still over your budget. For only $49 a year, you can choose to be alerted by text, email, or push notifications about the best international flight deals currently offered by multiple airlines. We are just obsessed with it.
TURN ON GOOGLE FLIGHT ALERTS
If you know exactly where and when you need to go, we highly suggest turning on alerts on Google Flights. Pick your city and your date first, then switch the toggle to agree to be sent alerts if the flight prices change. Don’t forget to check the date grid to see if you’re getting the best rate or if you should look at a day or two around the desired time.

PICK THE DEAL, NOT THE DESTINATION
This is our most crucial money-saving hack. Instead of insisting on visiting one specific destination, we save the money and credit card points to jump on the flight deals that are most interesting to us. For example, while exploring Finland wasn’t at the top of our bucket list, we found a flight deal for a week in Finland for only $280 per person. What a deal! We bought the flights and had the most unexpected yet incredible winter vacation. The entire trip cost us less than most plane tickets in peak season this way. Repeat after us: I solemnly swear to pick the deal, not the destination, whenever possible. It will save you thousands and allow you to see more of the world more often.
Congratulations! You Booked a great flight deal, and now you’re on your way.
