We absolutely love the vibrant energy of Madrid. The city is buzzing with energy, vibrant colors, and a rich history that draws us in. After our incredible road trip through Morocco, we took a short flight up to Spain where we stayed in the beautiful and memorable Thompson Madrid Hotel. As a nearly opened 5-star Hyatt property, the Thompson not only meets but surpasses expectations. From the moment we checked in to the last sip of our cocktails on the rooftop, we nearly felt like royalty. Here’s what we loved most about our stay at the Thompson Madrid Hotel.

The staff at the Thompson Madrid Hotel is top-notch. They greeted us with warm smiles, complimentary warm cinnamon rolls made in-house, and fresh juice! They made us feel like we were the only guests in the hotel. The check-in process was a breeze, and then we were guided to our room by a staff member as we were informed of the hotel’s amenities, including the rooftop bar, fitness center, and restaurant.
The Thompson Madrid has 175 rooms including 22 suites and one stunning penthouse suite. We chose a standard King Room for our stay. Though it’s technically the most basic room option at the hotel, our room still absolutely blew us away. The decor is modern and chic, with a touch of Spanish flair that reminds you you’re truly in the heart of Madrid. The bed was comfortable, and the pillows were just the right amount of fluffy. The bathroom was spacious and had all the amenities, including a rain shower, plush robes, slippers, and big, cozy towels. We were pleasantly surprised by the snack and drink options in the room. The mini bar and shelf was full of local specialties, Spanish wine, and go-to sodas. We chose a room with an interior view, but if you score a room with a balcony, you’ll have a front-row seat to the bustling streets below.

Dining & Drinks:
The food and drinks at the Thompson Madrid Hotel are truly exceptional and a great representation of the style and flavors of the city. The hotel’s restaurant, The Omar, is a must-visit spot for foodies. The carefully crafted cuisine with a Spanish twist is out of this world, with the seafood and lamb being a standout dishes. And the wine list is extensive, so you’re sure to find the perfect pairing for your meal. Hijos de Tomás is the Thompson’s cocktail bar with speakeasy flair. You can find it in the basement of the hotel, which leads to the ultra secluded, prohibition-era vibes.
Speaking of wine and cocktails, the rooftop and rooftop bar are the places to be! The views are unbeatable, and the atmosphere is vibrant. The rooftop terrace is the perfect place to unwind after a long day of exploring the city. The views are breathtaking, and the cocktails are expertly crafted. I highly recommend trying their sangria – you are in Spain after all! Whether you’re sipping cocktails with friends or lounging on a sun bed, the rooftop is the perfect place to soak up the Madrid sun. And if you want to cool off, take a dip in the rooftop pool. It’s the ultimate way to chill out on a hot day.
